Fred Bedore
Senior Director, Business Strategy and Sustainability, Walmart
Fred Bedore is the Senior Director of Business Strategy and Sustainability at Walmart. In this role, he works with a team to build sustainability into every part of Walmart’s global business strategy. They are doing this by focusing on three goals: 1) to have zero waste, 2) to use 100% renewable energy, and 3) to bring sustainable products to their customers. During his career in the retail industry Fred has spent time in logistics, planning/replenishment, merchandising, and innovation. At Walmart, he earned Buyer of the Year honors while in merchandising and was a part of the team nominated for the Sam M. Walton Entrepreneur of the Year award while in Innovations. Fred has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Michigan State University and an MBA with a concentration in Supply Chain from Pennsylvania State University.

Zach Freeze
Senior Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance, Walmart
Zach Freeze is a Sr. Strategy Manager for Walmart Stores Inc.’s Environmental Health and Safety Department. Zach is responsible for working with the suppliers and buyers of chemical products using the Chemical Assessment Review process. Zach also manages the Sustainable Value Network focused on Chemical Intensive Products, or CIP. With the development of the GreenWERCS tool, this group is focused on providing visibility to the merchant and supplier communities to the potential environmental and health hazards of their products. Zach’s previous experience includes chemical purchasing, environmental consulting, and product specification testing. Mr. Freeze earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Arkansas Tech University and a Master of Science in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas.

Vonda Lockwood
Director Store Operations & Sustainabilty, Walmart
Vonda Lockwood is Walmart’s Director of Store Operations & Sustainbility for US Operations where she is responsible for program execution and implementation for over 4,000 stores across the United States. Ms. Lockwood leads Walmart’s Waste Sustainable Value Network where she works cross functionally with various stakeholders including associates, non-government organizations, and supplier partners, to name a few. She is helping drive Walmart US to meet their goal to eliminate landfill waste by 2025. Ms. Lockwood’s background with Walmart ranges from Operations, Store Planning, Training and Development to Global Indirect Sourcing. Ms. Lockwood holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Programming from the University of Central Okalahoma with a minor in Biology.

Catherine Greener
Co-Founder, Cleargreen Advisors
Catherine is the co-founder of Cleargreen Advisors - a consultancy focused on sustainability strategy and outsourced sustainability management services - Catherine built more than 20 years of experience in implementation of sustainability, lean manufacturing, and industrial quality management systems. She started on this path by applying ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and Six-Sigma experience to lead sustainability and resource efficiency projects, and has worked for small and large clients in various industries, ranging from food and beverage processing to the automotive, chemical, semi-conductor, facility automation (robotics), and construction industries. Clients range from entrepreneurial start-ups to Fortune 500 companies including Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Frito-Lay, FedEx, Shell and Dell. She holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University and a MBA from the University of Michigan.

Chip Jones
Senior Vice President Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Dean Foods
Mr. Jones has worked as a teacher, a CPA, and a lawyer. He joined Dean Foods Company in 2002 as its labor and employment counsel. Dean Foods is one of the nation's leading food and beverage companies and is the nation's leading processor and distributor of milk and other dairy products. In 2004, Mr. Jones took on the responsibility of serving as the company’s chief compliance officer. Now, Mr. Jones is in charge of the company’s corporate responsibility efforts, which include ethics, compliance, and sustainability. As the company’s chief compliance officer, Mr. Jones is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Company’s compliance program, which includes conducting risk assessments, training programs, and investigations of alleged violations of the company’s Code of Ethics. He also chairs the company’s Sustainability Working Group whose purpose is to identify and align sustainability initiatives with the company’s strategic objectives.

Sean M. Stephan
Director, Sustainable Supplier Solutions, Waste Management
Sean is the Director of Supplier Solutions with Waste Management working with CPG companies, government sectors, and industry groups in the areas of materials management, sustainable products and waste to energy technology. He has worked in the area of sustainability for over 10 years for companies such as STANLEY, TAMKO Building Products, and Walmart Stores. He holds a Master of Science degree in Bio-Chemical Engineering and is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

Jon Johnson, Ph.D.
Co-Director, Sustainability Consortium, University of Arkansas
Jon Johnson is the Walton College Professor of Sustainability in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, where he has been on the faculty since 1996. He graduated with a BS in zoology and an MBA from the University of Arkansas before a Ph.D. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. His research, which has appeared in numerous journals, focuses on corporate governance, social networks within and between firms, and corporate sustainability. Jon teaches strategy, organization theory, sustainability and ethics. Jon has led the University of Arkansas' recent sustainability initiatives, including establishing the Applied Sustainability Center in July 2007, and co-founding the Sustainability Consortium in July 2009.

Greg van Buskirk, Ph.D.
Research Fellow, Manager, Product Developer, Clorox Dr. Van Buskirk is an experienced, innovative R&D leader with an extensive portfolio of technology and product development. Dr. Van Buskirk has an outstanding track record of leading and contributing to successful product development launches, including Clorox GreenWorks, Clorox BleachPen, Clorox Liquid Bleach products, Clorox 2 products, Clorox FreshCare, as well as former Clorox detergent brands. He has had a 29+ year career in consumer packaged goods industry -- domestic and international. This includes 10+ years as technical liaison with Henkel KGaA. Dr. Van Buskirk has extensive experience in creating and executing groundbreaking technology platforms, products and cross-functional innovation processes. He significantly enhanced Intellectual Property by developing and leading unique IP-generation process and training within the technical community. Dr. Van Buskirk’s specialties include: Product development and business strategy development, formulation development and product commercialization, cost-savings execution, litigation, and communications. Dr. Van Buskirk received his PhD. in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Michelle Mauthe Harvey
Project Manager, Environmental Defense Fund
Michelle Mauthe Harvey co-leads Environmental Defense Fund's on-site partnership with Wal-Mart in Bentonville, AR advancing sustainable business practices throughout their operations and supply chain. Michelle’s primary areas of responsibility include chemicals, alternative energy, human and environment interactions, sustainability training for Wal-Mart buyers, sustainable forestry, agriculture and seafood, nanotechnology, carbon life cycle inventory and analysis, and facilitating strategic coordination among environmental organizations engaged with Wal-Mart. Michelle received a BSF from the University of the South and her MBA from Duke University. Michelle is a member of the University of Michigan Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute advisory board and the Center for Environmental Learning operating committee; she previously served on the US CDC National Center for Environmental Health advisory council and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Verifiers Accreditation Subcommittee. She is a Certified Forester and a Society of American Foresters Fellow.
