Compliance efforts tend to support business as usual. Often Auditing forces standards as a way to do business in other countries. Compliance to VOC standards made for a difficult change over in paint products—vendors had to actually pull products off retail shelves when the Grandfather period ran out.

Compliance tends to promote a loss of transparency with current systems and processes;
Brand driven change can help rethink the opportunities and driven by marketing folks.

Alternative experience: Auditing for Compliance can generate improvements—and can inspire collaboration
