Take-aways/Key Themes of the Day

* Employee managed metrics
* Innovation is about more than technology: It's about how we relate to each other.
* So much about sustainability can't be captured in metrics. (Value that hasn't been created yet.)
* Old way vs new way: We want to share/collaborate, but we still feel we have to hang on to competitive edge. But things are changing. Transparency can be a competitive advantage.
* Empowerment of the individuals:
* You can always find good green stories to tell: Don't be afraid to share.
* It's not profit vs ecology: That's a false choice. Our job is to break through that.
* Sustainability is about people not things: Need to learn to influence people.
* Companies need to create/allow opportunities to innovate (e.g. Employees should be encouraged to brainstorm in meetings)

Feedback / Recommendations:

* Need longer, more in-depth conferences/webinars: Need to deal with these issues in greater depth.
* Want key websites/resources from the event and/or a document of findings that we can circulate.
* Need more opportunities for for-profit and nonprofit people to connect (like today's event).
* Offer training and resources on "how to brainstorm" (look at Google and IDEO)

What worked/What didn't work

* Need designated note-takers for each session. (We may have lost some good content.)
* Consider renaming "unconference" (Why name something by what it is not?)
* Where is all this session information going? (Wasn't made clear)
* Consider making it clear (perhaps via nametags) what sector people are from.
* The focus on the people was great (Liked the everyone having the opportunity to introduce
* Consider building out the afternoon session at the midpoint. Give participants a chance to make some changes or build out the afternoon agenda.
* Consider strongly detering the use of powerpoint presentations.
* The food was healthy and plentiful.
* Wanted more dialogue on water.
